Weta Workshops to help with No.9's restoration
We are pleased to announced that the team at Weta Workshop have come onboard and are keen to help us out with the restoration of No.9. Plans are currently underway to have some driving wheel patterns manufactured so in the future we will be able to have them cast.
Needless to say we are extremely excited about this development and look forward to working with Richard Taylor and his team.
No.9 moved home
The Wellington & Manawatu Railway Trust would like to thank Ben Calcott, Neville Tobin, Colin Perfect, Alex Maciver, Daniel Garland and Adam Orchard for their generous donations which allowed the frame, tender and associated parts of No.9 to be transported from Christchurch to Paekakariki on 26 February.
Loaded in Christchurch at noon, the equipment was delivered safely to Steam Incorporated by 8am the next morning where it was unloaded and further disassembly has begun.
We will have a full report of this exciting development in our next newsletter in May.
