Research Notes

Rescuing and restoring the relics of the WMR is only half the job when it comes to appreciating the company and its place in NZ history.

In this section we hope to shed light on many aspects of the WMR and eventually build a database of information pertaining to all facets of the only truly successful private railway company in New Zealand's history.

As part of his research for the restoration of WMR carriages # 48 & # 52 John Vannisselroy has complied the Research Notes below on various aspects of carriage construction and materials. We are grateful to John for sharing his efforts with us.
